Singapore S. - WM Dragons 68-77 The game in Singapore was quite interesting. Fifth ranked Malaysian WM Dragons (9-6) played at the court of 7th ranked Singapore Singapore Slingers (6-9). WM Dragons managed to secure a 9-point victory 77-68 on Sunday. It was a good game for American guard Amir Bell (193-96, college: Princeton) who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Bulgarian power forward Simeon Lepichev (206-95, college: FAU) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four WM Dragons players scored in double figures. American guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) answered with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the other American import guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) added 21 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Singapore Slingers. WM Dragons have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Singapore Slingers lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with nine games lost. WM Dragons are looking forward to face league's leader Mono Vampire in Bangkok in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Singapore Slingers will play at home against Formosa D. (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Alab Pilipinas outscored guests from Saigon 99-79. Alab Pilipinas dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Saigon Heat's 46. They outrebounded Saigon Heat 56-30 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Alab Pilipinas players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Nick King (201-95, college: MTSU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. Maltese center Samuel Deguara (225-91) helped adding 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Alab Pilipinas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Sam Thompson (201-92, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and Duong Tran-Nguyen scored 18 points. Saigon Heat's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending Filipino champion maintains second place with 10-6 record having just two points less than leader Mono Vampire. Saigon Heat at the other side stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Alab Pilipinas will again play against bottom-ranked Saigon Heat (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saigon Heat will have a break next round.
